Biography of a Band
M-set is a quirky rock band that hales from Seattle, WA. They have the melodic driving rock sound of the Foo Fighters, combined with the quirky alternative rock of The Presidents, topped off with the charming vocal and personal presence of the Beatles. Not bad, eh?
The roots of M-set reach back to the “Seattle Sound” explosion. The band’s lead singer/bassist, Scott Elnes, was playing bass at the time for the highly successful "Inflatable Soule", featuring the brother and two sisters of Chris Cornell from Soundgarden. After several years of touring, Elnes decided to head south to attend The Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA to further his craft and start his own project.
Upon returning to Seattle, Elnes followed the lead of one of his favorite artists, Dave Matthews, and scoured the city patiently in order to hand pick the best players for his new band. Attending open mics, live club shows and conducting over 100 auditions in two years yielded nothing satisfactory. Yet settling for “good enough” was not an option.
While recording a demo in the late 90’s, a friend referred Chris Crumpler, who had built a reputation as one of the finest session drummers available. Crumpler’s extensive musical experience in rock, jazz, and country (to name a few) were a perfect foundation to support Elnes’ diverse writing influences. Talk turned quickly between the two toward solidifying a full time project.
Crumpler called up friend and lead guitarist Eugene Peterson, a well known local axe man with the left hand of Stevie Ray Vaughn, the fire of Eddie Van Halen, and the mind of Jimi Hendrix. The three clicked instantly and “M-set” took motion.
M-set has been playing live non-stop for over 6 years. They performed at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, have opened for national acts, played all of the major venues in Seattle, toured up and down the west coast extensively, released two EPs and a full length album, shot two videos, and are now releasing their finest work to date, C.E.O.s Killed The Radio Star, a self produced album that was a year in the making.
The band is currently seeking distribution, tour support and marketing to support their new album.
The Usual Suspects
Scott "Scojo" Elnes
A
veteran of the Seattle music scene, Scojo left a successful stint with the
legendary Seattle club band "Inflatable Soule" (featuring the
brother and two sisters of Chris Cornell of Soundgarden), to head south
to The Musicians Institute in Hollywood to fine tune his vision, ability
and desire.
Returning to Seattle, Scojo began a search process that would take over 4 years, include over 200 auditions, two line-up changes and hundreds of live shows before achieving the ultimate band.
Scojo’s voice has been compared by many to that of David Lee Roth and Chris Ballew of The Presidents of the USA. His charisma, humor and songwriting are the cornerstone of the M-set sound.

Eugene "Huge" Peterson
Whether
pulling extreme ski moves, or dislocating body parts after stage diving,
Huge is as much a star on the ski slopes of Washington as he is in the Seattle
music scene.
Huge’s guitar influences are a "who’s who" list of the guitar greats. There is a splash of Stevie Ray Vaughn, more than a dash of Jimi Hendrix and a heaping helping of just plain HUGE. Exciting, spontaneous and infectious.
Though there is much speculation, there is no factual support for how Huge got his name. He has blown more knees, broken more strings and french kissed more girls on stage than any human ever to grace the planet earth. Huge’s songwriting and vocals are earthy and vibrant.

Chris Crumpler
As
at home with his aromatic pipe as he is behind the kit, Holmes is the back
bone of the M-set sound. His tenor voice and wide range of musical abilities
make him more than just a drummer, more than just a singer.
Holmes earned his degree in music from Central Washington University, then relocated to Seattle where he began, and still maintains, a strong teaching and session work career. His tempo is solid, his beats are driving and he loves to drink thick beer and rub his nipples in public whenever possible.
Holmes’ boyish charm makes him big with the ladies and several species of fish. There are great drummers. There are great singers. But only rarely do you see them in the same person. Holmes is truly a unique talent.
