Once again, for those of you who didn't show up, you missed one hell of a show last night at Big Daddy's. The guys played over 4 hours of great music, originals and covers. There were hot chicks on stage, and beer flowed like a river. Still, you have one chance at redemption this year, with their next show at the EMP's Liquid Lounge on Thursday, December 30th. The show starts at 9pm, and there's no cover! I've added a PDF Flyer for anyone who wants to print this out and pass them out to their friends (or enemies!)

There's a new adition to the website: we've added a Forum. It's for everyone to use, to let us know what you think, to shoot the shit, whatever. Head on over right now and try it out!

Damn! What a hell of a good show! The entire lineup rocked the house!

For those of you out there that were unable to make it to the CD Release Party down at the Sunset Tavern this last Saturday, you missed the best show of the year, hands down. Before the show even started, the guys had fans buying up the brand new album (on sale here on the website!) and signing autographs.

Spunk paved the way for the evening by surprising everyone as to just how good they really are, getting the ever-increasing crowd amped up for the rest of the evening. After a sweet hour of rockin' Bluegrass, they made way for the boys of Tennis Pro to show the crowd what Rock 'N' Roll really means by knocking everyone up to their feet and groovin' along. They even played a TON of brand new songs from their upcoming album.

Before anyone knew, it was midnight and it was now time for the boys of M-set to swoop in and go for the kill! Scott, Chris and Eugene, along with Andrew (the newest addition to the gang, taking over on Bass), had the crowd hoppin' from the start, with plenty of lovely ladies dancing at the front of the stage. The boys from Spunk even joined the band for a song, addin' a little Bluegrass flavor to M-set's usual brand of Rock. The joint was jumpin' all night long!

Then there was the after-show party at the M-set house... needless to say, I didn't even get home until almost 6 in the morning.

Don't believe me...? Go to the Pictures page and check out all of the pics I took! After you get a peek at these, you're gonna be sorry you missed the show.

BUT... don't worry, there will be plenty of shows in the near future. In fact, the band has a couple of gigs at Big Daddy's in the next few weeks and a show at the EMP's Liquid Lounge before the end of the year. We'll see you there!

I got a couple of new things for you today, Setheads, so listen up!

First off, the lineup for the upcoming CD Release Party has been finalized. With M-set headlining the show, Tennis Pro is now in the number 2 slot, with the Sort-Of-Bluegrass band Spunk now opening the show. With this lineup, there's gonna be something for everybody, except for fans of Polka... you guys are screwed.

Second, the band has also decided to make this evening more enticing by offering a discount from the cover at the door. Although the cover price at the door is $7 for the everyday John Q. Public, Anyone who's anyone will be coming in with a copy of the mini-flyer (to yer left!) and getting $2 off the admission price. If you are one of the few unfortunate souls that haven't picked one of these up yet, then download the PDF file for the mini-flyer and print it out!

And finally, there is a another great jingle (made for BJ Shea) that's been added to the Music section. If you're in the mood for a parody of Sonny and Cher, then you've come to the right place!

See you at the show!

The gang at M-set had a show this last friday at Big Daddy's in Woodinville, the first of four over the next couple of months. If you missed this last one, shame on you! BUT... you will have an opportunity to make it up to the band on Saturday the 13th, at the Big Daddy's in Kirkland. Many hours of song and beer to be had by all...

Speaking of shows, the band has added another one to their growing list of appearances, the last one for the year most likely. They will be playing at the EMP's Liquid Lounge on December 30th. For anyone who has not been there before, I highly recommend checking them out there. It's a small, but very cool, venue.

More later...

A quick announcement, folks...

I just heard from Chris that Tennis Pro, one of the coolest bands in the area (besides M-set, that is...), has agreed to open for the CD Release Party in November.

Once again, this is a show YOU WILL NOT WANT TO MISS!!

10-21-04

Only two days into the new website and we already have an important update! How's that for service!?

I just got word from Chris that the CD Release Party for the new album, C.E.O's Killed The Radio Star, has been set for Saturday, November 20th at the Sunset Tavern. More actual details, such as the door price and who they are playing with, will be announced shortly.

This is going to be a huge show, folks, one that you will not want to miss!

Welcome to the new M-set website, Setheads! Everything old is new again!

As you can see, everything has finally been updated (or is in the process of being updated...) with a brand new look (courtesy of me, Brian Meredith), a look that mirrors the design of the brand new album, C.E.O's Killed The Radio Star. I know it's been a hell of a wait, since the new album and this site update was announced, but hopefully all of you out there in Set-Land will agree that it's been well worth the wait.

"Wait... New Album, you say, Brian? Tell me more..."

I'm glad you asked, loyal listener...

The Usual Suspects from the Set of M are VERY PLEASED to announce that their fourth album, the full-length enhanced CD C.E.O.s Killed The Radio Star, is finally done and will be available for purchase within the next couple of weeks, online here in the Store section and at many fine local establishments. They are also in the process of setting up a CD release party and they will have more on that soon, so get your black Sharpies out and be prepared to mark it on your calendars.

In the meantime, they have some "cover" shows coming up (check the Shows section for details...), and they would love to see all of you there. You may even get a chance to snag the new CD. Get it before everyone else and be the envy of all the other kids in the neighborhood!

Howdy Ho Ho Ho Setheads! We've been busy little beaver eaters this past couple of weeks. First things, first...WERE YOU AT THE PARTY? Two kegs drained, two bands, flashings, cops, hijinx abounded! See the pics if you don't believe me. "Missing Link" rocked the house before us. The little bastads are barely out of high school and already rocking the house. Next came your M-set boyz. We're not just out of high school, but we definitely act like junior highers. We rocked until the cops showed up, but they were cool enough, and liked us, so they let us play one more song....of which "Get The Fuck Out" was the only REAL choice.

This past weekend saw the M-set boys playing first at Waldos in Kirkland and then B.C. McDonalds on Saturday. Waldos was a beer drinking mish mash of improvisations, sick jokes and a couple hot chicks playing pool. I was quite distracted. 2 ball in corner pocket is all I could think of all night. Sick bastard.

B.C.'s in Mill Creek is a cool joint. We started off the night witnessing a pretty young lady flashing the security gaurds multiple times. Her friend then decided to add a sucking portion to the flashing. I was quite distracted. We had some great looking ladies dancing...with no guys. Guys, why the hell don't you dance with these women? Jesus, you're missing out.
We get our CD mastered THIS WEEK, which means it should be ready for release VERY soon. KEEP YOUR EYES PEELED for a CD Release Party Announcement coming soon! Peas

Scott's back from Alaska. We have shows this month. You should come. We have a party this month. You should definitely come. Our CD will be mastered next week. Cool.

Aw yes, it has been a long time since anything new has been put up here. What has happened since Yuri's last writing......lots! I will do some summarizing.

We had a fun show at Chop Suey. The sound there is top notch and the staff treated us great. The crowd was noisy and I kept my pants on. Then we played a private party up at Roche Harbor on San Jaun Island. The weather was perfect and the accommodations were unbelievable. Between five of us, we are able to piece together enough memory to make a whole weekend out of it.

We no longer have Jimmy in the band. We thank him for his time with us and what he brought to our sound and stage antics, but unfortunately he has had to deal with some tough things recently and just isn't able to keep the band as a part of his life right now, so we wish him luck and are looking again for that fourth member. If you know a guitarist (or even a bassist ) that wants to sing and play in our band....send them our way.

Scott is in Alaska right now. Huh?!? Yes, Alaska. He had an opportunity to make some quick cash and build up some savings so that more time can be spent shopping our album to the labels. He will be back within a few weeks and we plan on having a big party. If you happen to be in Alaska and you're looking for a male prostitute.......
The album (yes the one that is taking forever) is closer every day. A lot will be happening in the next month. Have I mentioned that it kicks ass?

We recorded some new radio spots for the BJ Shea show on 100.7 The Buzz. We do a good job of making ass's of ourselves, so hopefully you can get a little entertainment out of them. Listen for them on his show, or you can download them on our music page.

We will have some shows in August (w/ Andrew) and the CD Release will be booked soon.

Enough, already......

Saturday, JR Phinicky's, Marysville - You know you are in for an interesting night when a) you travel north of Everett to see a live band, b) that live band is M-set (or Vinyl Set), c) you get frisked on the way in the door. I find out later that some dude got shot in JR Phinikys not too long ago so the extra security was warranted. From the crowd that seemed to be fun-loving, I didn't feel like I might get shot, although I did have a shot of Tequilla.

There were quite a few people dancing most fo the night, which is nice because I was out there and I'd rather not be super-creep-dance-alone guy. The M-set original tune went over well which is nice. Jimmy and Andrew traded off all night and the DJ couldn't stop talking about how good Andrew was, good job Andrew.

I finally got home at 3:15 AM (thanks to daylight saving time) and considered it a good night.

Howdy Ho Setheads! The triumphant return de the Set was last Friday at Graceland. The club that previously launched such names as Alice In Chains and Pearl Jam opened it's arms to us and we spanked it like a bitch and sent it home without cab fare.

I'd have to say that it was one of the funnest shows I've had with the band. Our new boy Jimmy was kickin butt, getting the crowd fired up and chanting. I even got in on the mix during "TRL" when I asked the crowd to chant "Fuck MTV!" "Fuck MTV2" (all were vigorously returned, of course) and then finally, "Fuck me for being such a dork" (which was unanimously returned...much to the delight of my band mates).

It was a short set, but a damn fine time was had by all. Afterwards we were treated to the top notch sounds of Post Stardom Depression, and bebemos muchos cervezas. Oh, don't forget to check out "The Iotolas" (of our boy Blue's new band) and a kick ass band from San Fran called "The Black Furies", both bands opened the show and were quite tasty.
The CD is in mixing stage and we're gearing up for more gigs. Keep your eyes posted for changes coming to the website and more crazy hijinx and skylarking from your boys of M-set!

03-09-04

Howdy Ho Setheads!!! Scojo here, coming at you with the latest 411 on the shizelistic, druzunkest M-set news. If you haven't heard already, we have a new guitar player. Jimmy (not the South Park cripple) is his name and we are super stoked to have him on board. Be sure and catch our FIRST SHOW SINCE AUGUST at Graceland on March 19th...it will likely be one of the best M-set shows ever...seriously.

Last weekend we played Alpental for a benefit for the search and rescue dogs. Several of us have benefited from these dogs finding Eugene buried in the snow on more than one occasion. The night was a typical Alpental night...insane drunk dancing, lots of Jager, dark beer and of course the obligatory flashing...although this time Chris De La Set was the flasher. The Entourage De Set all sprawled out on a condo floor for the night and there were many body noises being shared by all. Jamie woke up behaving and sounding like a hungover Eor from Winnie the Pooh. Rex's Bloody Marys were once again enjoyed by all the next morning.

Tuesday we congregated to The Central for day two of the shooting of our "Weekend Girlfriend" video. Keep your eye on the website for more details..we hope to have a version available about the time our NEW CD IS RELEASED (we are currently in mixing stage...so stay tuned). We cranked through take after take of Weekend Girlfriend much to the delight of the patrons who enthusiastically cheered us on...or maybe they were just hammered. I made intimate company with a blow up doll...engagement announcements will be soon to follow.

Well, I gotta get back to hocking up lung butter and chugging DayQuil...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE come on out to our show next weekend. We'd like you all to give Jimmy a laurel, and hearty handshake and welcome him to the Setheads!

-Peas, Scojo

02-10-04

by - We have found our 4th member! Jimmy has now been rehearsing with us for a couple of weeks and it is sounding great. He brings a lot to the band with his aggressive guitar playing, great vocals, great songwriting and an overall enthusiasm that is infectious. Who is he, you ask? Well, you will just have to keep coming back to the website for updates. We will have some shows booked soon to see him (March 6th at Alpental Ski Resort), and we will have new bios up for all of us when our new website is unveiled (thanks to Brian from Modern Pulp Comics).

In other news, our new album "C.E.O.'s Killed the Radio Star" is done and waiting to be mixed. Patience is the game. We can hardly wait for you all to hear it, and you will.....with time. As soon as we have a better idea of how long the mixing, mastering, artwork and duplication will take we will set up a CD release show that you won't want to miss. We also started shooting a video this last weekend for our song Weekend Girlfriend. The video should be ready for your eyes and ears by the time the album is. More news later......

P.S. There is a new picture of the four of us (including Jimmy) sitting in the studio listening to the new tracks.

Many of you have been wondering "What is up with M-set?". Well, a lot of cool things and I am here to give you some answers. We have been very busy locked up in our own Buzz studios recording our next full length CD which is just about done. We are scheduled to release this bad boy in the Spring of '04. But that's not all. We've also been auditioning players for our second guitar spot. This has been an interesting experience, to say the least, but I think we may be close to unveiling a new player, just in time for our new CD and......a new website. Brian from Modern Pulp Comics is currently designing a new website for us that should be ready sometime in February and we are really excited about that. Also, if you haven't noticed we have been playing some cover band shows as "Vinyl Set" over the last few months to help finance this CD and it has been a blast. Longtime friend Andrew Nelson has been sitting in on keys and guitar and plays it like a champ. We've been busy, but not real visible. That will change here soon and we expect to see all of you out there when the new M-set, new CD, and new website are unveiled. If you want to reach us, you can always send us an e-mail and operators will by standing by.

-Chris
